FUND RAISING ACTIVITIES/DONATIONS

The agency receives approximately 57% of its funding through local levy dollars and approximately 20% through United Way allocations.

The agency conducts two fund raising events each year:

BOWL FOR KIDS SAKE- Is held in March - May each year. The Community Day Bowlers participate on special days during March, April and May! We hold six Community Day events; one in Chillicothe, Circleville, Washington Court House, Portsmouth and in Hillsboro. Bowlers are required to raise $40 in sponsors in order to bowl and teams consist of 5 bowlers. 

It is a fun time!! The bowlers get to bowl 2 free games with bowling shoes included. We supply 2 free soft drinks, food, and fantastic door prizes are given throughout each event. 

Community Days are scheduled as follows:

Chillicothe Community Days - March 30th, 2008 at Shawnee Lanes

Circleville Community Days -  
April 6th, 2008 at Pickaway Lanes

Washington Court House Community Days - April 20th, 2008 at LeElla Lanes

Highland Community Days
April 27th, 2008 at Highland Lanes

Scioto County Community Days - May 4th, 2008 at Sunset Lanes

ARBY'S PROMOTION

Arby’s is one of the National Partners with Big Brothers Big Sisters.  Locally, they will be selling logo sheets for us and helping to promote our program.  This promotion will be going on from May 26th-June 30th, 2008.  Please support your local Arby’s and us by going there for lunch or dinner.  Please call our office if you have questions about the promotion.

 

ANNUAL CAMPAIGN- This is held in August in Pickaway, Pike, and Fayette Counties and in November in Ross, Highland, and Scioto Counties. The agency sends an annual appeal letter to local individuals in hopes that they will consider making a contribution to the agency.

OTHER WAYS TO HELP/DONATE

  • You can donate used clothing to the agency. Any clothes that we are unable to use, we donate to Good Will Industries and in return, they provide us with clothing vouchers that can be used by our families.
  • You can donate other small items that our families may be able to use microwave ovens, computers, bicycles, televisions, etc. Chances are, we will be able to find a good home for it.

YES Kids

Visit the YES Kids, which stands for Young Entrepreneurial Society Kids,  website at http://www.yeskidstore.com.  These young local entrepreneurs offer more than 3,000 products - from glassware and candles to seasonal products and home decor.  They donate  20% of their profits to our agency.  This local business was started by a pair of fifth and sixth graders whose father is a former Board member of South Central Ohio Big Brothers Big Sisters.  The father wanted the young entrepreneurs to realize that one of the most important aspects of a successful business is giving back to their community.  Please help support our agency and make their dream of owning a business come true by visiting their website at http://www.yeskidstore.com.
